Scuffle inside temple premises Chief Monk, two others injured

A Buddhist monk and two villagers were injured after they were beaten up in the temple premises at Aranayake yesterday Police said.

According to Police, an unidentified person is alleged to have beaten up the three victims over a personal feud.

The monk was described as the Chief Priest of the Aranayake Pokuna Temple and he had sustained minor injuries in the attack.

The other two victims were rushed to the Kegalle Hospital with serious injuries, Police said.

Police are investigating to ascertain the motive behind the attack while a hunt is on for the suspect.

Aranayake Police are conducting further investigations.

Police are yet to ascertain the cause of the assault but noted that investigations are underway to locate the individual who assaulted the three people and escaped the area.
