The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will launch its manifesto this week targeting the coming Local Government election, SLFP sources reveal.

They added that this manifesto will target uplifting the village. The manifesto will be launched at an event that will be attended by President Maithripala Sirisena and all SLFP candidates for the local councils will be summoned to Colombo for this event. The SLFP plans to come up with separate plans to develop each area, taking into consideration the pressing needs of each local council area. The SLFP will also focus on eradicating corruption at the grassroots.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leaders will also meet tomorrow, under the leadership of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to discuss all the public meetings and other propaganda activities of the party for the forthcoming election.

The meeting will take place at the former President's official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07. The SLPP will also appoint a number of operation committees to carry out the propaganda initiatives planned by the party. The meeting will focus on the plan to win the coming Local Council Election and how propaganda activities should be carried out. Leaders of the Joint Opposition, political parties that support the SLPP and representatives of a number of anti-government movements will also take part in the meeting.
