Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was due to meet last night to decide whether the Sri Lankan team will fly to Lahore to play the third T20 International against Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, President Thilanga Sumathipala said.

SLC has also received a report on the security situation of Pakistan prepared by the International Cricket Council (ICC). A Sri Lankan delegation also travelled to Lahore to assess the situation during the final of the second Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi told Pakistani media yesterday that the Sri Lankan team would play the third T20 International against Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Dunya News, the most popular Urdu language news and current affairs television channel in Pakistan, quoted Sethi as saying that Sumathipala has confirmed that the team will play the third T20 in Lahore on 29 October.

He made this statement speaking to the media at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport after returning from New Zealand after attending the ICC meeting.

Although 40 contracted Sri Lankan cricketers sent a letter to SLC stating they are reluctant to play the scheduled match in Lahore, SLC has maintained that they are confident of sending a full strength team to Pakistan. Sri Lanka is set to play three T20s against Pakistan, two in UAE and one in Lahore. Sumathipala also said that Sri Lanka will pick only one squad for all three T20s because the country can't have two teams playing at the two venues.

"I am also flying with the team to Lahore," he said.
