‘Gejji’ wearing ceremony

Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, is planning to hold a 'Gejji' wearing ceremony.

Assistant Secretary of Cultural Promotion Dilum Dayarathna said the ceremony will be held on 14 August at the Panadura Cultural Centre from 9:00 a.m. onwards.

'Gejji' (anklets worn by dancers) is considered an important aspect in Indian dancing. The students who have been following the Indian dancing course at the Panadura Cultural Centre will be wearing the 'Gejji' for the first time.

Several officials with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will be attending the function.
