Police probing Thursday's day-light heist at a private bank in Attidiya where a security guard was killed are yet to make any breakthrough, officials said yesterday.

Two unidentified gunmen held up the bank staff at gun point before fleeing with Rs 3.4 million.

Two private security guards posted at the bank were injured after the gunmen opened fire before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, the official added.

The two injured security guards were later rushed to the Colombo South General Hospital in Kalubowila. One guard later succumbed to his injuries.

According to Police the two gunmen wearing full face crash helmets had robbed the money from the cash counters and from a depositor and later fired on the security personnel before escaping.

The Mount Lavinia Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
