Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has invited all Parliamentarians of the dissolved Parliament to Temple Trees at 10 a.m. on 4 May  to apprise them regarding measures that had been taken by the Government to control the spread of COVID-19 and the present situation in the country.

A Government source said the Premier has invited all 225 MPs of the previous House for the discussion. Health Services Director General, Dr. Anil Jasingha is also expected to be a part of this meeting.

The UNP has decided to attend the discussion. Party General Secretary, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said  the Party's Parliamentary group led by Party Leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe would attend the discussion. He added that several of its Former MPs were planning to air their views regarding the present status of the COVID-19 health crisis during this meeting.

However, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader, Sajith Premadasa claimed that till yesterday (30), his Alliance had not received an invitation from Rajapaksa to attend the meeting. He said that if an invite was received by the SJB, it would be discussed with other Party Leaders of the Alliance before a decision on whether or not to attend the meeting.
