World Military Games in France: SLAF judokas to represent Sri Lanka
Ten Judoka’s from the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) are scheduled to leave the island on 27 October to take part in the 40th World Military Judo Championship scheduled to be held in Paris, France. Apart from the ten judoka’s, Sergeant Nuwan Attanayake - who is an international Judo Referee - has also got an opportunity to officiate at the meet. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana conveyed his best wishes to the participants and wished them all success during the Games.
Corporal Chamara Dharmawardhane (73 Kg Weight Category), Leading Aircraftman Suraj Arachchi (81 Kg Weight Category), Leading Aircraftman Gayan Abeysinghe (100 Kg Weight Category), together with Corporal Prabhath Gunadasa and Leading Aircraftman Irfan Osman (who will be participating in the team event) are the Airmen who will be participating at this tournament.
Corporal Prarthanaa Sandamali (48 Kg Weight Category), Corporal Seedevi (70 Kg Weight Category), Corporal Ganisha Lakmali (78 Kg Weight Category), Leading Aircraftwoman Nadeeshani Fonseka (52 Kg Weight Category) and Leading Aircraftwoman Iresha Chathurangani (63 Kg Weight Category) are the Airwomen who will be participating at this tournament. The captain of the Judo team will be Corporal Chamara Dharmawardhane who is a nationally and internationally experienced Judoka having represented Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics and the Rio Olympics as well.
