Women Entrepreneurs Honoured

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in association with National Enterprise Development Authority concluded the “Entrepreneur Awards 2020 Western Province” successfully at BMICH Colombo on 10 March 2021, two days after International Women’s Day. Anusha Pelpita, Secretary - Ministry of Industries was the Chief Guest and Anushka Gunasinghe-Chairman/DG of NEDA the Guest of Honour. 

There were around 26 Awards, such as Sector wise & Category wise Awards, Special Awards and Overall Award together with 16 Merit Awards. Among number of awards, women entrepreneurs presence has been strikingly significant and women participation and trust placed on NEDA and NCCSL was noteworthy to mention. In addition to the Award for Best Entrepreneur Providing Most Number of Jobs for Females, was awarded to Orel IT (Pvt) Ltd., the following women entrepreneurs were successful in winning awards.    

Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries Sector:

Micro Category - Merit Award: K K A Madhuwanthi, Proprietor of U BEST Products 

Medium Category - Merit Award: G L Imesha Madhushani, Partner of Heavens Vege Foods Lanka 

Large Category - Winner: Yamuna Perera, CEO of Impex Corporation (Private) Limited 

Industry/Manufacturing Sector 

Micro Category - Winner: Nimesha Nilanthi Nugera, Proprietor of A-Ruu Creative Creations    Micro Category - Merit Awards: A Gayani Nilmini De Alwis, Proprietor of Nimreka Batik &                                                               Nadeera Nilmini Silva, Partner of S & N Products

Small Category - Winner: S A Priyanthi Kumari-Directress of Akalanka Product International (Private) Limited

Small Category - Merit Award: Inoka Thushari Liyanarachchi, Managing Directress of D & D Creations (Private) Limited    Medium Category - Winner, 

“Best Entrepreneur - Recovered from COVID related Business Issues” award and 

Overall winner-2nd Runner-up (Bronze Award)
