Woman found dead in the Panadura Market
The body of a woman who worked at the Panadura Public Market was found in a room there yesterday (19), according to the Panadura South Police.
The deceased has been identified as Mahawaduge Chandrani Perera, 42, a mother of one, who is believed to have been residing in a room within the Panadura market complex.
The Panadura South Police had arrived at the scene based on a tip off received by the Police Emergency Response Unit. Panadura Public Health Inspectors and the Grama Niladhari officer of the area had also arrived at the scene and examined the body, which was later then taken to the Panadura Base Hospital.
A hospital spokesman said that the post-mortem examination would be conducted after a PCR examination in view of the current COVID-19 condition. Further investigations are being conducted by the Panadura Police.
