Woman arrested for selling liquor during quarantine
A woman has been arrested yesterday (14) for selling liquor to people who were illegally organising night parties in violation of quarantine rules.
Mahawa Police arrested the 44-year-old during a special police raid in the Karamba area.
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said the woman had been selling liquor without a license when quarantine restrictions were enforced. 38 bottles of arrack and 98 bottles of beer were seized from her possession.
The suspect is to be produced before the Magistrate's court.
The DIG requested the public to call 1997 or the nearest police station if people in the area are having illegal liquor parties at night.
