W.A. Silva Mawatha to be widened – Johnston

Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando said W.A. Silva Mawatha, which runs from Pamankada Junction to Wellawatte, is to be widened and will be converted into a road with four tracks. The project is estimated to cost Rs 210 million, according to Fernando. “This project will help ease the traffic along Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha, Havelock Road.
We have already widened the Pamankada Bridge, which has helped ease the traffic in Kohuwala and Pamankada. The W.A. Silva Mawatha widening project will ease the traffic along Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha further,” the Minister added. Speaking to the Media yesterday (27), Fernando added that the oneway status along Colombo-Horana Road has been removed and is now open for two-way traffic.
