Violating Court Order: Jayalath twins face Contempt charges

Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Priyantha Fernando on Thursday (13) issued notices on two members of the Jaya Sri musical group,the Jayalath twins Rohitha and Rohana, to appear before him on 27 January to face Contempt of Court charges. 

The duo have been accused of violating an injunction issued by the Court, preventing them from singing songs contained in the music albums ‘Mod Goviya’ and ‘Sundaree’.

As per the injunction issued by the Court, based on a complaint lodged by a former member of the said music group, Aruna Liyanage, the Jayalath twins had been prohibited from singing 20 songs contained in the said music album, carrying out publicity work as well as releasing the songs to Internet.

President’s Counsel Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe supported by Counsels Rakitha Rajapakshe and Sadun Senadhipathi, on the instructions of Attorney-at-Law Thilina Hewawitharana appeared for petitioner, Liyanage.
