Vaccinating over 270,000 pregnant women to commence soon
Deputy Director-General of Health Services, Dr Hemantha Herath says that the inoculation program for pregnant mothers will begin soon.
Speaking to the media today (07), Dr Herath said that pregnant mothers in their first trimester will not be vaccinated.
However, an assessment by a Gynaecologist is mandatory for all pregnant women before receiving the vaccine. It will only be given under the recommendation of a medical professional, Dr Herath mentioned.
There are about 275,000 pregnant mothers islandwide, he added.
