V. Sivagnanasothy passes away

Former Secretary to the National Integration and Reconciliation Ministry and a member of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights, Velayuthan Sivagnanasothy passed away on 5 April after suddenly taking ill.
Sivagnanasothy, a distinguished officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, was Secretary in several Ministries including Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs Ministry. He also served as the secretary to the Presidential Task Force, Ministries of Prison Reform, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, Plantation Infrastructure Development, and Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development. During his tenure as the Secretary to the Ministry of Resettlement, he executed many projects and earned the love and affection of all communities. He contributed tirelessly to resettle the people of the war ravaged North and East and had a close rapport with the Media until his sudden demise.
His remains will lie at Jayaratne Florists, Borella, until Thursday April 8, 4 p.m.
