UPMS demands explanation from Govt
By Upatissa Perera
The Union for the Protection of the Muthurajawela Sanctuary (UPMS) says that before the Government turns the Muthurajawela Sanctuary into a national reservation, they need to explain to the public on what grounds they had handed over its authority to the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLRDC) through a Cabinet paper. They said the Government also needs to apprise the public as to what other projects they intend to carry out at the said sanctuary and reveal the precise amount of hectares and the land which they had set apart for their projects. Issuing a Media release, UPMS Secretary Senaratne Wanasinghe said that as Sri Lankans, his Union would never oppose any project that will aid the country’s development.
