Unstoppable Chathurya, Thehan combination grabs another doubles title

Chathurya Nilaweera and Thehan Wijemanne continued their winning streak in the Doubles category, and added yet another title to their account when the duo overcame Kavisha Rathnayake and Luka Knese(7/5, 6/2) to claim the U-18 title at the 105th Colombo tennis Championship at SLTA clay courts yesterday. 

It was a dominant performance from Chathurya and Thehan, who gave their best and produced a carboncopy of their earlier tournament victories with ease. 

Earlier Thehan (17) and Chathurya (16) also renewed a 32-year-old record when they rewrote history books to be crowned as the youngest duo to clinch a doubles title at the Nationals,which was set in early1989 by Thehan’s father Sanjay Wijemanne and Rohan de Silva, when they were 17 and 18 years.
