Ukrainian tourists generate Rs 150 million

Sri Lanka has made Rs 150 million from the Ukrainian tourists who arrived in the country under a pilot project, Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, S. Hettiarachchi said.
He added, while this is an approximate figure for accommodation alone, the figures will increase when calculating other expenses borne by the tourists.
Hettiarachchi further stated that the current calculations are based on the accommodation of the Ukrainian tourists for eight days, while certain tourists were in the country for more than eight days, adding that over 316 Ukrainian tourists are currently in the country.
Ukrainian tourists arrived in the country in several batches from 28 December 2020, under a pilot project, as the first batch of tourists arriving in the country after nine months.
