A letter from the country’s communications regulator stated Uganda ordered internet service providers to block all social media platforms on Tuesday until further notice.
Users complained about the inability to access Facebook and Wahtsapp earlier on Tuesday. These platforms were widely used for campaigning ahead of Thursday’s presidential election in the country.
Officials such as the commission’s spokesman Ibrahim Bbossa, government spokesman Ofwono Opondo and Minister of Information Judith Nabakooba did not respond to any comments on the matter.
