U.S. and Italy visits kept on low budget – Dullas
By Thameenah Razeek
Official tours undertaken by the President and the Prime Minister to the United States and Italy respectively, are done on a shoestring budget, Cabinet Spokesman Dullas Alahapperuma said.
He emphasised that these are the first foreign visits undertaken by both the President and the PM during the pandemic. They made the visits because it was necessary and will never cause harm to the country, Alahapperuma added.
The Cabinet Spokesman said these in response to a question raised during the Cabinet Decision media briefing held yesterday (14) afternoon at the Department of Government Information. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will attend the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will begin on 21 September in New York, USA while PM Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Bologna, Italy, for the G20 Interfaith Dialogue.
