Two suspects arrested with an unlicensed firearm

The Mannar Madhu Police arrested two suspects yesterday (17) for transporting a shotgun and a uniform similar to an Army uniform during a search operation at the Madhu, Kunchikulam police roadblock in Mannar.
Police said that during a search of a suspicious lorry, two suspects were arrested with a gun, 10 rounds of ammunition, two empty ammunition cases, a suit resembling an army jungle suit and three kilograms of pork.
The suspects, aged 52 and 34, are residents of the Katana area and were arrested while transporting the firearm while on duty at a holiday resort in Madhu, police said.
The suspects had been in possession of the gun without a license and the security forces suspect that the gun was used for hunting.
The arrestees are to be produced before the Mannar Magistrate's Court.
