Relatives have lodged a complaint with the Mullaitivu Police Headquarters that two fishermen, who went to sea from Trincomalee have gone missing.

The particular complaint has been lodged by the fishing craft owner through the relatives of fishermen. The relatives of fishermen told Ceylon Today that the fishermen left for the sea on board a fishing craft which belonged to the Manal Kudiyiruppu Fisheries Society in Mullaitivu on 19 October.

The fishermen have been identified as 56-year-old Aliyar Salam and 34-year-old Mursaleen Riswan, both residents of Jamaliyyah, Trincomalee.

The Navy have commenced search operations in the deep and shallow seas in the Mullaitivu region and its surroundings but no information has been received so far in connection with the missing fishermen, Police added.
