Troops rescue five families from flood waters
Troops rescued more than five families in Gampaha, among whom were four COVID-19 patients, from the flood waters of the Attanagalu Oya on Saturday, Sri Lanka Army (SLA) said. These operations took place in the Attanagalle - Ketakalapitiya areas after the Attanagalu-Oya overflowed and displaced families on 5 Saturday.
The patients were taken to quarantine centres while their family members from two families were isolated. Rescue operations were coordinated under the supervision of SLA Commander General Shavendra Silva, Commander Security Forces - West Major General Vikum Liyanage, General Officer Commanding 14 Division Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa, Commander 141 Brigade Brigadier Pradeep Gamage and Commanding Officer 6 Sri Lanka Artillery Lieutenant Colonel O.N.J.
