TRCSL warns Whatsapp users of ongoing scam
The general public have been warned by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) of an ongoing scam on Whatsapp.
TRCSL took to Twitter earlier today, to notify the public that in the event they receive a message on Whatsapp, notifying them of a 'mistaken six digit code' that had supposedly been sent, they are not to reply to this message, as it is a scam.
They added that in the event this message comes from a known contact, it is likely that the sender's phone has been compromised and should be informed immediately.
Whatsapp users have also been adviced to enable '2 factor authentication' on their Whatsapp accounts, in order to protect their accounts.
