News Traffic cops hit Ampara streets after COVID hiatus

Traffic Police in the Ampara District, yesterday (24), resumed duties which had been temporarily suspended in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The traffic Police monitored vehicular movements yesterday from morning to noon in various areas in the District including Sammanthurai and its suburbs, Kalmunai City area, Natpiddimunai Main Junction, Thalavadduvan Junction, Pandiruppu and Savalakkadai areas. Traffic wardens of Police Stations in the District have been deployed under the purview of Ampara District SSP. 

Individuals travelling on motorcycles without helmets, licences as well as motorcyclists riding at high speeds or bikes carrying more than two were arrested and fined.
