Kalmunai Magistrate I.N. Riswan ordered relevant authorities to obtain the assistance of private cellular mobile telephone service providers to trace the suspect who threatened an attorney who appeared before the Court on behalf of a witness. This witness was threatened by a group of persons over the phone, after he provided information to the security forces that he saw Pulasthini Rajendran alias Sara alive, after she was suspected of being killed in the Sainthamaruthu suicide bomb attack.
The particular witness who appeared before the Kalmunai Magistrate Riswan, on 5 October with his Attorney Ithayanathan Mathivathanan had provided a confidential statement in a closed room, claiming he was threatened by unidentified persons over the phone after providing information to the security forces. After recording the statement from the witness, Magistrate Riswan postponed the next hearing to 19 October.
When the particular case was taken up for hearing again on 19 October, the witness didn’t appear before the Magistrate but his Attorney Mathivathanan appeared. Magistrate Riswan said summons would be issued on the witness if required, and put forward further hearings to 2 November.
A 43-year-old person had provided information to the security forces that he saw Sara alive in a suburban area in the Kaluwanchikudi Police Division a few days after the Sainthamaruthu suicide bomb attack.
Meanwhile, the Kalmunai Magistrate ordered to remand 12 suspects who had close links with the Easter Sunday terror attack mastermind and National Thowheed Jama’ath Leader Zaharan Hashim till 2 November following the reports produced by the Police before the Court.
