TNA MP urges Foreign Minister to repatriate them

Batticaloa District TNA parliamentarian, R. Sanakiyan said he had requested Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to repatriate Sri Lankan migrant workers who were stranded due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and international travel restrictions being imposed.
He said thousands of Tamil migrant workers were stranded in the Middle East.
Sanakiyan stated that he made this request to Minister Gunawardena when he met him at the Parliament complex during the Budget debate and added that he submitted a petition in this regard. He said, the normal lives of people across the globe have been severely affected owing to precautionary measures being taken to curb the virus. Sanakiyan brought to the attention of the Minister that Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Middle - East had requested him to bring them down. Sanakiyan was confident the Foreign Minister will accede to his request and will take steps to bring them down as soon as possible.
