TID arrests two for conducting extremist lectures to students
The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) has arrested two suspects for giving fundamentalist and extremist lectures to students sitting for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.
The suspects, aged 30 and 39, were arrested in Oluvil yesterday (07), Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He mentioned that the classes were held in December 2018 in Oluvil, and that the students who participated in the classes were given lectures and various physical exercises.
The two suspects are being detained at the Terrorist Investigation Division in Colombo.
They are to be further questioned on detention orders and it has been revealed that the extremist classes were conducted with the assistance of Zahran Hashim, a suspect who was involved in the Easter Sunday Attack, DIG Ajith Rohana added.
