Three killed in road accidents

Three persons were killed in three road accidents that occurred in the Kurunegala, Kirindiwela and Silawathura areas on 5 August.
A three wheeler traveling towards Kurunegala on the Dambulla-Kurunegala Road in the Badagamuwa area had collided head on with a lorry at around 8.05 p.m. Two persons who were travelling in the three wheeler were admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital with serious injuries and one of them subsequently died. The driver of the lorry has been arrested in connection with the accident.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian was hit by a three wheeler in the Galkaduwa area on the Thekkawatta Kuttiwila Road in the Kirindiwela Police Division at around 5 p.m. The pedestrian was initially admitted to the Radawana Hospital with serious injuries. He was later transferred to the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital for further treatment, where he succumbed to the injuries. He is a 44-year-old resident of the Minuwangoda area. The driver of the three wheeler has been arrested by the Police.
Also, a 22-year-old youth was killed when his motorcycle overturned on the Arippu- Nanattan Road in the Silawathura Police Division at around 5 p.m. His body has been placed at the Mannar Hospital.
