Thalvupadu village urged to be isolated

Regional Epidemiologist Mannar District Dr. K. Sudhagaran, said yesterday (1) that after 35 COVID-19 cases were found in Thalvupadu village in the Mannar MOH Division, a request was made to the COVID-19 Prevention Task Force to take immediate action to isolate the village. Dr. Sudhagaran said PCR tests were performed on 1,200 people in the Mannar District last Friday, and that the test samples were sent to the IDH Hospital laboratory, where they were getting the results.
Test samples were collected from 170 individuals in the Thalvupadu village where 35 tested positive. All these COVID-19 patients were working at a fish-processing centre in Thalvupadu. In the wake of this finding, the COVID-19 Prevention Task Force has been urged to isolate the Grama Niladhari Division. Dr. K. Sudhagaran said that 970 COVID-19 cases have been detected in the Mannar District since January, and 52,628 people were vaccinated in the Mannar District.
