Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya released the 10 suspects arrested from the copper factory situated at Wellampitiya owned by the suicide cadre behind the Easter Sunday terror blast targeting the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo on the advice of the Attorney General. The 10 suspects had previously been enlarged on bail. The TID had urged the Colombo Additional Magistrate to release the suspects, as they do not intend to institute legal action against them.
Taking the request into consideration Additional Magistrate Jayasuriya ordered to release the suspects and conclude further proceedings.
Wellampitiya Police had reordered statements from 100 workers of the copper factory and apprehended 10 suspects and produced them in Court in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attack on Shangri-La Hotel.
Court ordered nine of the suspects to be enlarged on surety bails of Rs 500.000.
Accordingly the probe into the case was transferred to the TID while the latter had informed Court on 4 November 2019 that investigations into the case had been concluded.
