Ten suspects further remanded

Ten suspects including Abdul Cader Fatima Hadiya, widow of the late NTJ leader Zaharan Hashim and Aysha Siddhika Mohamed, widow of Mohamed Mubarak, who carried out the suicide bombing at Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo, were further remanded till 27 January.
The suspects were virtually produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate, yesterday (13).
The remanded suspects were Zaharan’s widow Hadiya, Asaruddin Mohamed Ilmi, Abdul Hameed Mohamed Rifas, Mohamed Mashnuk Mohamed Rilar, Mohamed Ameer M. Ayatullah, Mohamed Mubarak Mohamed Rifail, the Kingsbury bomber’s widow, Aysha, Mohamed Waseem, Mohamed Arshad and Abusali Abubakar.
The Magistrate delivered the verdict following a Skype inspection. Hadiya is infected with COVID-19 and is receiving treatment under prison security.
The CID, on a previous occasion, had informed Court that Aysha was directly involved in the 2019, Easter Sunday bombings. Investigations have also found that the suspect had conducted surveillance before attacking hotels and Catholic churches, including the Kingsbury Hotel.
