Cabinet to discuss teachers' salary anomalies
A Cabinet meeting is due to be held this evening (02), in an attempt to resolve several issues faced by teachers, including that concerning salary anomalies.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the office of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Education Minister G. L Pieris stated that every effort will be made to resolve these issues today.
The Cabinet meeting is scheduled to take place at 05 pm.
With regard to the salary anomalies teachers are currently facing, Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union, Joseph Stalin stated that If the Cabinet meeting set for today fails to take a decision, teachers and principals have decided to hold a vehicle parade on 4 August.
The parade will make its way to the Presidential Secretariat.
He further said if the Government does not make give a reasonable solution they will withdraw from the examination process.
