Teacher, principal strike: Unresolved issue boomeranging on Govt – Mahinda Jayasinghe

Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union General Secretary and JVP Central Committee member MahindaJayasinghe says his party had at no stage betrayed the principal-teacher salary anomalies issue. However, he stated the failure of the Government to resolve the vexed issue had now become a boomerang to the current regime. Jayasinghe pointed out that the modus operandi of the Government was to subtly corner principals and teachers by coaxing them to return to schools today (20).
“All such third rate tactics have now become a headache to the Government as it is the trade union sector that decided on its own volition to return to teaching NDC India delegation arrives with effect from 25 October,” he said, adding that certain measures adopted by the trade unions have been changed to suit the demands of the day and he insisted that they will continue with their demands to resolve the issue by pressuring the Government.
