Susal, Buddhika win
FIDE Master Susal de Silva outplayed Bangladesh International Master Mohammad Minhaz Uddin (2278) in style to score a point to reach 4 ½ points out of 6 games. Susal managed to get a strong King’s side play from a game started with Giuco Piano opening. Buddika Amarasinghe also had an excellent game and scored a full point against Bangladesh FIDE Master Ahmed Shike Nazir (2179) in a game started with the English opening.
National Chess Champion Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage clashed against the strongest player in the event, Bangladesh Grand Master Ziaur Rahman (2434), and went down fighting in a marathon game lasting almost 5 ½ hours and 83 moves. Ranindu started with White pieces in a Modern Defense game. Grand Master Rahman leads with 5 ½ points, while the other Grand Masters (also from Bangladesh) Enamul Hussain and Mehdi Hasan Parag also are in 2nd spot with 5 points out of 6 games with their victories on 6th round.
Susal is in 4th place, while Ranindu and Buddhika are in the next batch with 4 points each with four other Bangladeshi players. The event will conclude on 9 June.
