The Health Ministry has requested patients with chronic diseases and the elderly to refrain from attending hospital clinics until further notice, as they are at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19, due to the congestion at clinic setups.

This was said by Acting Health Services Director General, S. Sridharan. “The Government is making arrangements to home deliver the medicinal drugs for clinic patients of Government hospitals from today,” he said.

Sridharan observed that this measure was being coordinated by the Sri Lanka Postal Department.  This process will commence from Gampaha and Colombo Districts and it is due to be expanded nationwide.

Patients are advised to visit the Emergency Treatment Units of the closest hospital at any time, if they experience symptoms of the virus. Furthermore, Sridharan advised the public not to panic and sought their fullest cooperation to combat the COVID-19 virus.
