State Minister Piyal Nishantha tests positive for Covid 19

Health officials in Kalutara confirmed today that State Minister Piyal Nishantha along with his wife, and child have tested positive for Covid 19. They are to be transferred to the treatment center set up in Koggala.

According to our correspondent in the area, an Assistant Director of the Kalutara District Secretariat had tested positive for the virus yesterday (17). PCR tests had been conducted on 40 individuals identified as immediate contacts of the patient. 

State Minister Nishantha had attended a meeting at the Secretariat along with the infected official on the 15th of this month.

As of today, 4 parliamentarians have tested positive for Covid 19, they are MPs Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Dayasiri Jayasekara and Rauff Hakeem.
