Stalin et al are NGO puppets – Lokuge
By Faadhila Thassim
Ceylon Teachers’ Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin and several other key figures of teacher trade unions staging protests are puppets backed by NonGovernmental Organisations, Minister of Transport Gamini Lokuge said.
He added that steps have already been taken to address the main problems faced by teachers, including salary anomalies, which will be solved by way of the next Budget. Speaking at a Media briefing held at the SLPP Office yesterday (22), Lokuge said thereby these teacher trade unions are protesting to inconvenience the Government amid a global pandemic, after being fully aware of the economic crisis the country is facing.
Lokuge added that these protests have significantly affected the education of children and that it is unfair on children. Teacher trade unions staged a massive protest opposite Fort Railway Station yesterday (22), saying that issues faced by both teachers and principals have been ignored and that protests will continue until demands are met.
