The Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union (CTU) Joseph Stalin said by last afternoon the total number of COVId-19 students stood at 20.
He said this was proof to suggest that the disease had begun to spread in the schools sector. Stalin charged that the issue could reach dangerous proportions if all schools in the Western Province were to reopen as planned on 15 February without a clear programme to tackle the spread of the virus in schools.
