Panel discussion on Children as Instrument of War

A panel discussion titled ‘Sri Lanka’s Children as Instrument of War’ was held under the patronage of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) at the Foreign Ministry recently.
Foreign Secretary and the Director-General of INSS, Admiral (Retd)Professor Jayanath Colombage chaired the session while expressing exactly how the LTTE was responsible for depriving the children of their freedom, dreams, and childhood.
Concerns were also raised about the ruthless acts committed by the LTTE against innocent Sri Lankan children.
Foreign representatives in Colombo, Sri Lankan envoys abroad, diplomats, academics, military personnel, and the general public on a virtual platform participated at the event.
The expert panel of speakers of the session included Senior Technical Advisor, US AID Score Project Dr. Dayani Panagoda, Clinical Psychologist Dr. Malkanthi Hettiarachchi, and Additional Secretary (Disaster Management) Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe.
