Sri Lanka on China's bad terms?
China has decided to suspend three projects related to the hybrid energy system planned to be built in Sri Lanka.
The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka wrote on Twitter that Sino Soar Hybrid Technology had planned to set up the project on three northern islands in Sri Lanka.
However, due to 'security concerns' from a third party, the company has inked a contract with the Government of Maldives instead to set up the relevant projects on 12 islands in the Maldives.
Previously, the Chinese government expressed displeasure over Sri Lanka's decision not to pay for fertilizer imported from China due to strong public opposition.
Meanwhile, minister Shashindra Rajapaksa recently said in Parliament that the friendship between China and Sri Lanka has been damaged.
