Local Sri Lanka moves to England’s Amber list

The United Kingdom (UK) has removed Sri Lanka from the Red List, moving it to the Amber List with effect from yesterday (22).

However, the British High Commission in Colombo said that Red List rules apply to travelers who departed Sri Lanka before the said date.

Issuing an advisory, the British High Commission laid out guidelines as follows for Lankan travelers entering their country:

If you are vaccinated with a full course of an approved vaccination, you must:

- Get a vaccination certificate from a national or state-level public health body

- Take a pre-departure COVID-19 test in the three days before you travel to England

- Book and pay for a two-day COVID-19 test - to be taken after your arrival in England. This will be delivered to the address you provide on your passenger locator form

- Complete a passenger locator form before you travel

- Print copies of your documents to show the airlines and immigration authorities

If you do not qualify under the fully vaccinated rules, you must:

- Take a pre-departure COVID-19 test- to be taken in the three days before you travel to England

-  Book and pay for day2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests -  to be taken after your arrival in England. This will be delivered to the address you provide on your passenger locator form

- Complete a passenger locator form before you travel

- Print copies of your documents to show the airlines and immigration authorities

- Quarantine at your home or the place you are staying for 10 days on arrival in England

Approved vaccines for entry to the UK are as follows:

- Oxford/ AstraZeneca, including COVISHIELD

- Pfizer BioNTech

- Moderna and Janssen from a relevant public health body

- Other approved vaccine programs
