State Minister of Finance, Capital Market and State Enterprise Ajith Nivard Cabraal yesterday (5), informed Parliament that the borrowing limit of Sri Lanka had not been exceeded during 2020.
Responding to a question posed by SJB MP Eran Wickremaratne, Cabraal said, the present Government has not acted in violation of the provisions contained in Articles of the Constitution, as well as the legal boundaries.
Cabraal added that the President had acted in keeping with the provisions contained in the Articles of the Constitution due to the situation that emerged here last year.
Responding to an interim question he mentioned that even the entire programme of granting a sum of Rs 5,000 for families affected by COVID-19 had also been initiated through a solid framework.
