Sri Lanka - England U19 Youth ODI series: All-rounder SL to series win
Sri Lanka beat England by 126 runs in the 4th Youth ODI at the SSC yesterday to clinch the 5-match series, as they took an unassailable 3-1 lead. Deputy skipper Raveen de Silva was the star as he scored 59 in 87 deliveries with 4 boundaries and a six and claimed 3 wickets for just 6 runs.
Sri Lanka won the toss and electing to bat first scored 243 runs for 7 wickets. Pawan Pathiraja continued his good form with the bat to score 60 runs in 104 deliveries with 2 boundaries. Along with Raveen de Silva the pair were involved in a stand of 111 runs stand for the 5th wicket. Shevon Daniel (39), Chamindu Wickramasinghe (19), Yasiru Rodrigo (15*), Dunith Wellalage (15) and Ranudha Somarathne (11) were the other batters to reach double figures. Ben Cliff claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs and Nathan Barnwell 2 wickets for 39 runs.
England were bowled out for 117 runs in 33.3 overs. Opener George Thomas top scored with 40 runs, while Harry Crawshaw (31), Jacob Bethell (11) and Will Luxton (10) helped to build their inning. Raveen de Silva claimed 3 wickets for 6 runs and Matheesha Pathirana 2 wickets for 8 runs.
Pawan Pathiraja and Dunith Wellalage are the leading batter and bowler respectively.
