EU grants 18mn Euros to support Sri Lankan Justice sector
The European Union (EU) announced today (13) that the Secretary to the Treasury, S.R. Attygalle signed three grants worth
Rs 8.26 billion.
EUR 18 million (LKR 4.16 billion) will be granted to the Justice Sector Support Program, implemented by UNDP and UNICEF, which aims to increase efficiency along with effectiveness, reduce court cases, and improve access to justice.
EUR 10 million (approx. LKR 2.31 billion) will be utilized for the program implemented by FAO and UNIDO to improve food safety, quality, and promote organic agriculture.
EUR 7.75 million (LKR 1.79 billion) will be granted to the program aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the Industrial Sector, implemented by UNIDO, as requested by the Ministries of Environment, Power, and Industry. The Minister hopes to strengthen efforts to mitigate climate change by creating a resource-efficient, low carbon, and climate-resilient industrial sector in Sri Lanka.
