SLWF receives Rs. 46.7 million Grant
The Sri Lanka Wushu Federation (SLWF) and the Ministry of Sports signed a Special Sports Development Pact yesterday. The signing of the Pact was overseen by Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
As part of this Pact the SLWF will be able to provide enhanced specialized training to Wushu players, provide latest equipment to improve the standard of the game, as well as seek the input of foreign trainers with next year’s Asian Games in mind.
Furthermore, with the signing of the Pact the Enhanced Taskforce of the Wushu Federation is to be provided with a sum of over Rs. 46.7 million.
As part of the signed Pact the SL Wushu squad will also be able to obtain the services of an Iranian and a Chinese trainer respectively.
It was also revealed at the event held to mark the signing of the Pact that 10 players who will be selected after the Junior Wushu Championship to be held in March next year, will be sent for specialized training in China as part of the Pact.
The Pact was signed on behalf of the SLWF by its President Manel Dharmakeerthi and on behalf of the Sports Development Department by its Director Amal Edirisuriya.
