SLRD setting up Rs15M signal systems

The Sri Lanka Railways Department (SLRD) has launched a new programme to build new signal systems for domestic trains at a cost of only Rs 15 million. SLRD sources said that sums ranging from Rs 200 million up to Rs 600 million had been incurred for this purpose previously.
The new signal systems will be set up for the Northern Railway Line and for the Matara-Beliatta Railway Line. SLRD have also started to install a new signal system for the Kelani Valley Railway Line and its work is set to begin in the coming weeks.
