SLPP cautions SLFP as row escalates

Any Government constituent party that is not in favour of implementing the policy framework of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should leave, General Secretary of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Sagara Kariyawasam said.
Commenting on criticisms levelled against the Government by the SLFP, Kariyawasam added if the criticisms are intended to gain the confidence of the public; it is unsuccessful as the public had repeatedly rejected the SLFP as a party that has betrayed their own policies.
He added that the SLFP is still directed by those who previously betrayed the party’s policies and were involved in the bond scam and consequently joined the SLPP.
“If any Government constituent party is against implementing the Government policies, they should leave instead of staying and criticising decisions while enjoying privileges,” he added.
Kariyawasam further emphasised that there has been several issues implementing certain Government policies such as the decision to ban the use of chemical fertiliser, adding however that these were promised by the President and is the reason why the incumbent Government was brought into power and should therefore be implemented.
