SLC Major Club Limited Overs Cricket Tournament 2020/21: Dushan’s cameo helps Army CC advance to semis

Dushan Vimukthi’s half century helped Army CC stun SSC in a low run scoring game to book their slot in the semi-finals of the ongoing SLC Major Club Limited Overs Cricket Tournament 2020/21 yesterday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Servicemen failed to continue their good form as they struggled in the middle with none of their batsmen finding middle of the bat except Dushan Vimukthi, who top scored with a fighting 55 runs off 107 deliveries inclusive of 3 boundaries.

Skipper Thisara Perera also scored an important 32 runs off 27 deliveries, while tail ender Suminda Lakshan added another 41 runs off 70 deliveries to help Army CC post a defendable 198 runs before they were bowled out.

Chasing an easy target, SSC batsmen were struggling from the very first ball, and were eventually bowled out for 181 runs. Himesh Rathnayake was the only run scorer for SSC with a 59 ball 54 runs.

Asela Gunarathne and Suminda Lakshan was the pick of the bowlers snaring three wickets each.

Meanwhile, Baduraliya CC, Ragama CC and NCC also booked their slots in the semi finals.
