Sports SLAF Boxers to participate at World Military Games

This year four (4) female pugilists from the Sri Lanka Air Force Women’s Boxing Team will be participating at the 58th World Military Boxing Championship, scheduled to be held in Moscow, Russia. In addition to them, Squadron Leader Prasad Wijesinghe, who is also an International Boxing Referee, will be officiating at these games. These players and officials took wing on Thursday (16). 

Leading Aircraftwoman Chamodhi Pasyala who will be participating in the 57 Kg weight category has many achievements at tournaments such as the Layton Cup, Clifford Cup 2019 and the National Boxing Championships 2018 and 2019. 

Leading Aircraftwoman Sanjeewani Cooray who will participate in the 60 Kg weight category has also achieved success at tournaments such as the Defence Services Games 2018, National Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019, Thailand Open Boxing Championship 2018, International Service Boxing Tournament 2019, South Asian Championships 2019, Layton Cup 2019 and Clifford Cup 2019. Leading Aircraftwoman Kashmi Thiwanka who will be participating in the 69 Kg weight category has many achievements at tournaments such as the Defence Services Games 2018, Layton Cup 2019, Clifford Cup 2019 and the National Championships 2018 and 2019. 

Leading Aircraftwoman Gayani Kaluarachchi, who will participate in the 75 Kg weight category, has also achieved success at tournaments such as the Defence Services Games 2018, Layton Cup Boxing Tournament 2019 and Clifford Cup 2019. Group Captain Indika Wickramasinghe is the Chairman of SLAF Boxing while Wing Commander Viraj Gamage is Secretary. Leading Aircraftman Dhanushka Ariyarathne officiates as the Coach of the SLAF Boxing Pool.
