SL youth cap Nadeeshan in Dambulla Vikings squad
Sri Lanka youth cap Kavindu Nadeeshan, skipper of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda in the Singer Cup Under 19 division One tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, will play in the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament for Dambulla Vikings.
Kavindu represented the school under-15 team for two seasons (2015/2016). He represented the school under-19 team as a fresher in 2015/16 under the guidance of Isuru Anushka and Thilan Madhuranga. He captured 60 wickets and was the highest wicket-taker in the school side. He represented Sri Lanka Schools under-15 team that toured Malaysia in 2016. He represented the Galle District team (Zone III) and Southern Province team in the Prima Trophy Inter District tournament and Inter Provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
He captured 70 wickets with four 5-wicket hauls in the 2016/2017 under-19 season. He scored 500 runs and captured 60 wickets in the 2017/18 season. He was adjudicated best batsman at the annual big match in 2018. He scored 630 runs and took 60 wickets with five 5-wicket hauls in the 2018/19 season. He represented the Southern Province team in the under-19 Inter Provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2019.
He was selected to the Sri Lanka under-19 squad in 2019. He has played against Pakistan, Asia Cup (Sri Lanka), Bangladesh, Tri-nation series (West Indies) and Youth World Cup (South Africa). He was the most successful wicket-taker in the West Indies. He has scored 1,859 runs with five half centuries and captured 183 wickets in his school cricket career. He has taken 30 wickets in Youth Internationals.
He played only two matches in the 2019/2020 season as the skipper due to national service. He represented CCC in the Major league inter Clubs tournament. He made a century for CCC against Army CC at 18-years in 2020. He represented the SLC Board XI against West Indies and England. He represented SSC in the Under-23 Inter Club Cricket tournament in 2020. (IR)
